Guides

Our team of guides at Alpine Hunting has been hand picked not only for their hunting
skills and technical knowledge, but also for their integrity and ability to get on well with
people.

When you book a hunt with us, you can be assured that your professional guide will take
ownership of your hunt experience in the field. At Alpine Hunting, the catch phrase
"memories to last a lifetime" isn't just a marketing gimmick. It's an attitude that is at the
core of what we do and how we do it.

Our guides go to great lengths to create opportunities not only for you to take a record
book trophy, but also to give you choices on the game you select and how your hunt is run.

Bruce Rowe

Nicknames: Watoosi, Burt

Burt's most frequently used excuse: It wasn't me!

Bruce has been guiding with Shane for eighteen seasons. His favorite pastimes are: fast
boats, fast cars and fast women! When the hunting season in New Zealand finishes, Bruce
heads over to Texas to guide elk, whitetail and exotics. Bruce has 2 children living in
Sydney and Columbia, and has 3 beautiful grandchildren he dotes on!

Colin Cartwright

Nicknames: Shifty, Mad Dog

Team Comments: If you notice footprints on the dining room table - shifty must have
been dancing on it again!

Shifty has been a good friend of Shane's since way back in the day! A professional hunter
for almost all of his life, from rabbit shooting to possum trapping and now guiding for
trophy deer. He's forgotten more about bushcraft and hunting than all the rest of us could
ever know!

David Blayney

Nicknames: Sweet Thing

Hunting experience: 32 years! (started at 8)

Team Comments: If you're looking for an Arapawa ram trophy, Dave is the best judge of
a pretty face on a sheep!

Dave's favorite pastime when he's not hunting is to take his two girls, ( aged 13 and 18),
hunting or shopping for clothes. When hunting season is over, Dave operates a truck and
machinery for farm roading and if he wasn't doing what he's doing now, he'd be a
radiologist.

With 10 years military experience, Dave is definitely the tidiest of all the boys, and
disorganisation makes this lad cringe (so if he's guiding you, pretend you've forgotten
something!)
